The Jobs for Life™ class is intended to help students engage in a journey -- a journey from unemployment to employment or underemployment to better employment. It is also intended to help students through a bigger journey, a journey through life. Computers are also available on site for job search after completion of the Jobs for Life™ Program. Click here for volunteer opportunities associated with this program.
Job Readiness and Job Search assistance is available by appointment to work one-on-one toward career goals when classes are not in session. Call for appointment with resume creation, cover letter, interview training, career clothing, or to be tested to see which career would be best for you to pursue. We are here to do whatever we can to help assist you on your journey towards employment. However, we are not a job placement agency.
COMPUTER LAB
We have various computer programs such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Microsoft XP and Internet Explorer. Students set up appointments to come and work through the programs on their own and are guided by the computer program through a tutorial. An instructor is there to guide them as needed in learning the program and while they work through their lessons. This is a great way for people who want to gain computer skills but can’t afford expensive classes. It works because they can work around their own schedules, making it very manageable for them to achieve their goal.

CAMP HOPE
(a Grief Camp for Kids)
Our newest program being offered is Renewed Hope Center's outreach to grieving children. Renewed Hope Center is a training and counseling center reaching out to those going through difficult times whether out of work and seeking employment, going through financial difficulty or struggling emotionally. In the last five years, a loss of therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists in the St. Tammany areas has caused a lack of social services to this community, especially children. This new pilot program for children in Slidell, Camp Hope, is a unique and innovative camp designed specifically for children who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The losses from which the children have suffered are great and range from cancer and illness, car wrecks, suicide, accidents and even murder. Camp Hope also assists military children who have lost a parent in war action.
Our service is available to ALL children between 6 and 12 years of age who are grieving and need support. Our FREE service offers all the fun of a typical camp, along with group-therapy activities to assist the children with their bereavement process. These activities incorporate the use of art, music, games and play therapies: with the theme of offering true hope for their future. The mission is to restore grieving children and families back into the mainstream of their lives through innovative services. A Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in Play Therapy will conduct each session.
We will be conducting four individual separate sessions.
Session III. - Brave Hearts
March - 2010
Dates and times to be announcedSession IV: - Bearable Summer Fun
Special Summer Adventure - 2010
Dates and times to be announcedIf you know anyone who would be interested in having their child attend, please give us a call at the office to register at 985-201-8390. We believe this program will produce healthier, happier and stronger children with a positive mental well being, which will be visible in their homes, schools and social settings. These children are our future and through Camp Hope we can support them together.
Faith-Based Counseling
Conducted by the director of the center who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Christian Care and Counseling. For people seeking spiritual guidance, encouragement and prayer support, these sessions assist those who find it hard to afford a licensed therapist and although distressed over various circumstances surrounding their lives, have manageable circumstances through which they need help walking. This counseling is not for severe psychological disorders.
Advocacy and Referral Services
To those who are seeking help for various reasons and need assistance in locating appropriate resources. We will do our best in listening to the needs and making appropriate connections when they are available.
